Noctiluca has an agreement with a company of the TCL Technology group in the field of printed OLED screensNoctiluca, a technology company from Toruń listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (NewConnect market), developing chemical compounds, e.g. for OLED screens, signed an MTA agreement with Guangdong Juhua Printing Display Technology (Juhua), a subsidiary of TCL TechnologyGroup Corporation and Tianma Microelectronics responsible for the industrialization of printed OLED technologies. Under the contract, he will test materials for OLED display printing ink formulations developed by Noctiluka. The best of them, in the next steps, will be tested by screen manufacturers.

OLED leaders of the future

OLED screens (eg in smartphones, televisions or tablets) consist of many ultra-thin layers of different materials. The key layer consists of organic materials (emitters) which, when an electrical charge is applied, glow – this is called the emission layer. Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Emitters (TADF) developed by Noctiluca can be used not only in the traditional production of OLED displays, but also in printing ink for OLED displays and lighting. Juhua from the TCL Technology group is interested in such ink emitters.

TCL Technology Group Corporation is a consumer electronics manufacturer and one of the world’s leading television market leaders. TCL operates in 160 markets and specializes in the research, development and production of consumer electronics, from televisions to smartphones to smart home products. As Juhua and TCL CSOT, it has been developing manufacturable printing technology for TV and flexible display applications since 2015.

Juhua is a 66% subsidiary of TCL CSOT (TCL Star Optic-electrical Technology – a company of TCL Technology Group Corporation) and a 33% subsidiary of Tianma Microelectronics. Thanks to the strong support of giant shareholders, it is considered a leading technology company in the field of printed OLEDs and a pioneer in new solutions for this segment.

On the way to printed OLED screens in partnership with major Asian manufacturers

The MTA (Material Transfer Agreement) marks the official start of the testing of Noctiluki transmitters by Juhua (joint evaluation and testing) and the entry into many months of commercial discussions. The aim of the cooperation is to test and select materials that will be used in the next steps to formulate OLED printing ink. Then the inks with the most promising results will be tested by the display manufacturers. Generally, the potential effects of the cooperation established on the basis of MTA can be achieved within 12-18 months, however, due to the ink formulation process and targeted testing with end partners, this step may take longer.

Inks based on our emitters allow for high brightness of printed screens, while being fully organic. Their application is also a much cheaper alternative to the production of screens, which can result not only in a greater number of possible applications, but also in a greater democratization of the market.– summarizes the advantages of the technology by Mariusz Bosiak, CEO of Noctiluca.

Steady progress in activity

Noctiluca debuted on the NewConnect market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange in April 2022 and immediately became one of the top 10 companies in the NCIndex. The current capitalization is over PLN 165 million.

“When they floated on the Warsaw Stock Exchange less than a year ago, few predicted that Noctiluca could become a partner of tech giants showing interest in our issuers. Today, our Asian partners, such as LG Display, are joined by a company from the TCL Technology group, a leading manufacturer of consumer electronics and a leader in the global television market. – says Mateusz Nowak, Business Development Manager of Noctiluca.
