While most gamers play for fun, some have turned professional. The game is a job for them, what’s more – well paid. However, this means competition at a very high level, which means the equipment used is crucial. Fractions of seconds and the smallest details can decide whether to win or lose.

It’s a bit like Formula 1 racing, where even the best driver won’t win the world championship if he doesn’t have a fast enough car. In other words, today skills alone are no longer enough to succeed in professional competitions. Powerful equipment is required. Like the first ASUS ROG Strix SCAR available in two sizes – 16 and 18 inches.

The ROG Strix SCAR 18 was unveiled at CES 2023, where ASUS showed off an all-new line of powerful gaming laptops. At first glance, you can see that it’s intended as a desktop replacement for people who expect similar performance, but in a mobile package.

Another thing that catches the eye is the large screen, for laptops. To achieve this, it was necessary to redesign the entire structure of the case so as to accommodate the larger Nebula screen with an aspect ratio of 16:10. Why was this challenge taken up? For one simple reason.

The 18-inch screen makes it quicker and easier for gamers to spot their rivals in games. Moreover, even the best graphics (and that’s what modern games offer!) wouldn’t be worth much without a decent display. ROG engineers are well aware of this: the screen offers a QHD+ resolution (2560×1600), a refresh rate of 240Hz and a response time of 3ms. The impressive screen size, however, is just the start.

The real change is in the fastest laptop components available on the market today, ie systems from Intel, AMD and NVIDIA. In practice, they deliver powerful performance in games – even the most hardware demanding ones.

An example is the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18, equipped with a mobile RTX 4090, a Core i9-13980HX and an 18-inch 240 Hz display. The GeForce RTX 4090 is the fastest mobile graphics card currently available in the market, allowing a power consumption of 175 W. The Intel Core i9-13980HX processor based on the new Raptor Lake series has 8 Performance cores and 16 Efficient cores. In other words, unparalleled gaming performance.

ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 is therefore equipped with the most powerful mobile components currently available on the market. Suffice it to say, the RTX 4090 can achieve a significant increase in frames per second, and the effects of ray tracing in 4K are achieved with no decrease in liquidity.

SCAR 18 is also spacious and fast DDR5 RAM and SSD, which translates to the ability to simultaneously play, stream and create different types of content without a drop in quality.

It is also worth mentioning the battery with a capacity of up to 90 Wh, which supports 100 W fast charging. It provides several hours of uninterrupted work, which can really impress if you take into account the computing power of ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 But that’s not all, because a few hours of continuous entertainment is a lot of power and work of all the components that must be properly cooled.

When it comes to gaming laptops, the key element is the walking system. If it’s not efficient enough, at best the components won’t work as long and efficiently as they should. In the worst case, they will overheat and be damaged.

That’s why the 16-inch and 18-inch models in the Strix series feature ROG Intelligent Cooling with Tri-Fan technology that adds a third fan to the cooling system. Combined with a specially designed full-width heatsink, it provides additional airflow to the components, but also supports the CPU and GPU to dissipate heat more efficiently. And all this without unnecessary noise.

Uncompromising gamers will also appreciate the full-size esports-class keyboard – extremely precise and resistant to over 20 million presses. It is also worth mentioning the N-key rollover technology, thanks to which the system will pick up every command from the player.

Superior gaming screen, extreme performance, reasonable size and weight – ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 is one of today’s most powerful gaming laptops. The most demanding players can finally leave their room with confidence!
